Practical Pest Solutions - Easy Steps to Prevent Pest Problems
By Bill L. Rowe
Most of the time when it comes to pests there are common variables that keep the pests coming into the home.
These things needs to be dealt with to have an actual pest solution.
All pests need some sort of water source. Your home is full of them especially if it's older. It's a good
idea to make sure that all your plumbing isn't leaking. It's hard to make sure the pipes under the house are in
good condition at all times, but making sure the pipes under the sink aren't leaking isn't that difficult. Keep
water off the counters as well.
If the pests have something to eat, they are going to stay around. If you want an actual pest solution, cut
off their food supply. When it comes to your own food make sure everything is properly sealed. This may involve
putting your packaging into plastic sealed containers. Keep counters and floors clean of crumbs. It doesn't
take much for common pests like silverfish and rats to keep fed and living in the home.
Some pests like clothes and glues like from book bindings. If you have a pest problem, keep these types of
items stored away. Cardboard certainly is cheaper, but some rodents chew threw it opening up a path for smaller
pests to eat these items. Containers with lids work better.
Overly moist areas in the yard or piles of wood near the home are very inviting to pests. You don't want to
make common yard mistakes that will attract pests.
The best pest control solutions are to make your home as less attractive as possible to pests. Most of the
time pests go for what's easiest to sustain long term infestation. If living in an apartment this is a little
bit harder to accomplish, but at least your apartment unit won't be the one where food and water is
available.
